ASoE Update Entry-Thingy
I had this great idea to, uh, let someone know that hope is not dead. A Series of Events (at deviantArt, FF dot net) will get done, I swear. So if you're curious as to what the hell I have been doing to make sure it's getting done:
6/14/11: Actually wrote a little today. Don't know what compelled me.
Decided to have that kiss scene in Chapter 17 after all. I also decided that my story wasn't gross or sick enough... so why not some projectile vomiting added to the mix? I don't hate the vomitee, but some people might think I do. You know, the worse thing I did that's character-bashing was making Relena switch bodies with Duo... and constantly giving Quatre and Draco embarrassing bit parts.
If I'm accused of bashing anyone in this story, it should be Malfoy, but the reader's interpretation is also valid, so whatever. :)
6/11-12/11: Late night writing. Edited Ch 15 and 16, and got a little work done on Ch 17. I gave up when I stopped editing and had to actually write more material. Hm. (I should work on that.) The reason why 17 is taking so long: I can't decide whether or not to write the kiss scene into 17, or make it its own chapter. (I'll probably finish up Ch 17 with it, because it'll be fun.)
Again, won't be posting the next chapters until all the next chapters are finished. Although, I could persuaded to post what I have now... for a fee... heh heh...
5/2/11: Spent three, four hours last night getting this chapter on 'paper'. It is finally written. The final rough draft version of this chapter. Finished. HELLO! Pass the tequila, this is something to celebrate! Chapter 16 is up next, and I need to finish it. (Mostly because if I finish it, I get a pretty sticker I can redeem for goodies, like more bottles of tequila.)
Won't be posting Chapter 15 until the entire story is finished. So... you'll have to wait a little longer.
3/11/11: Working on yet another draft of the last few chapters. Both 15 and 16 are currently in first draft, and the chapter after that is being written out as well. Tomorrow is a typing day, and I should have a clean draft of chapter 15 by tomorrow night, and if I'm on a roll, chapter 16 as well.
Why did it take me an entire year to actually get working? A complete lack of confidence combined with a complete lack of love for this story. Finishing this story, however, is very important to me. (I can't say why.)
2/13/10: The next part is finished! FINISHED!!! And if I can find a beta at this late hour, I'd even post it tonight, too. Doubt I'd be able to find anyone, though. Heh heh.
2/2/10: Rewrite number five!!!??? Yeah, this is coming along great. Currently hanging a carrot on a stick in front of me, tempting me to get this done by Sunday. The carrot is unimportant, aside from the fact that I really want it. Bad enough to want to post the next part by then. Then being Sunday. I want that carrot... Am I making any sense? Let me be a bit clearer: If I don't get this next part typed, edited, and POSTED by Sunday, the 14th, I can't go out and have fun. Yeah, that's about right. And I really want that carrot. Also, apricots (have nothing to with anything, but are quite delicious.)
1/8/10: Been trying to finish the next part for days. It feels like I'm just putting pieces together. Nothing seems to make sense, at least not to me. This is bad... I need to focus when I write, but it's not happening. *whimper*
1/1/10: Happy New Year. I look forward to a productive year together. Chapter 14 was posted on Christmas Day (or something similar), and I'm struggling a bit with the opening of the next part. I'm planning to get it done in time for Three Kings' Day.
12/21/09: (I wonder if there's such a thing as Jivejournal...) Finally finished the (3rd??!!!) draft of the next part, but the end doesn't seem to be enough... and the part, as a whole, seems too long. And the language is kind of sucky... What a conundrum. Also, am thinking of skipping the next major canon scene, and maybe the Snape/Harry scene after that one, and going straight to the... wait... I'm getting myself a bit confused. Never mind. (There is... and it's owned by some dude in China. That's... wierd.)
12/20: I can't... seem... to be able to type up this next part! The opening... I hate it so much, but that how it needs to open. BUT! After struggling with the opening, the rest of it flows out... now to figure out just how this part is supposed to end. Dumbly-dore? Kiss kiss? Nothing feels right, though one piece did fall into place quite sweetly...
12/17: Nearly finished the (third!?!) rough draft of the next part. The language is so rough, it's embarrassing... but I'm sure it'll get better as I type it up... again. :) ALSO, I wrote out two out of three (four) omake pieces yesterday. A "preview" of them can be found here and here. (Finally, the big payoff for checking this little... uh... Update Entry.)
12/10: Edited Chapter 14. Typing up brand-spanking new edits in tonight. And, if you ask, I'll even post it on Saturday for you (despite my wish to post it when the story is finished. But like there's any chance of anyone asking for something so ludicrous... *laughs nervously to herself*)
12/7: I was rereading the story today (sure, someone on TVTropes thinks that's a Death March and maybe that's true, but I got a new notebook so bleh), and, somehow, it doesn't fill me with the same loathing as before. Can't say if it's a good thing. I may just end up editing through the old stuff and forget that I need to write the next five (ten?) chapters as well... Planning to get it all done by Three Kings Day, if that means anything to you. :)
12/2: That bout of lack of self-worth lasted for a pretty long time. NanoWrimo is over, so I have time to work on ASoE again, but there's also a test on Sunday I'm not ready for and a contest entry that's over due. Nonetheless! I'm gonna try hard today. (I hope.)
10/5: Scrapped much of Part 2/7 and rewrote the bulk of it. Changed solicitous!Harry to voyeur!Harry. That was fun. Also am pretty sure I hit a snag after rereading HBP. Damn you canon. Currently depressed by current level of self-worth, so typing up changes will be a lot of fun tonight. *looks for some chocolate*
9/30: Think I'm ready to write Part 3/7. May have to take a few notes beforehand. Also, started typing up Part 2/7. Yeah, this is going to be fun to edit when I'm done. (Sarcasm? ... I'm not sure...)
9/29: Skimmed through HBP for Part 3/7. I can't write that one until I've read that one scene a couple of times. It's been a while since I've read it, and I have to ingest the shit out of it before I can write what I want.
9/28: Finished Part 2/7 rough. So sexy... so OOC. Typing it will be a bit of a pain.
9/17: Started writing Part 2/7. Part 1/7 was typed up months ago and is still waiting for editing. Part 2's opening rough, and probably needs the first bit rewritten/expanded, but that'll come later.
9/10: Finalize outline for last cycle of story. About 7 parts left, unless I decide to tape a happy ending to it. (Yeah, it ends on a downbeat. Eeps.) I can't tell you how many times I've written this damn outline. The first version had about 20 parts... after chapter 12. (Eeps, again.)
More as I do it...
