Summary: Duo and Heero talk about the picture.

The bed was cold, uncomfortable, and smelled dusty. He SHOULD have insisted on the couch. At least there he could blame insomnia on a lump of wood and wires right underneath his back.

He stared at the ceiling, making out the faint water stain on the corner farthest from the bed with some help from the half-moon shining in.

The air was quiet... almost frighteningly so. He couldn't hear anything beyond the beating of his heart and his soft, relaxed breathing. He turned his head towards the closed bedroom door and wondered if Heero was having as bad of a night as he was.

He hated this room already, and he didn't even live here. There was no life inside those four walls. "How can Heero sleep in here, anyway?" he whispered to himself as he threw the blankets aside and sat up.

With his feet on the wall-to-wall carpet and his hands on his knees, he couldn’t help but look around in the near darkness. What a quiet, terribly depressing room.

He turned on the light and looked at the bland walls in frustration. Why was he even here? Relena said that Heero needed some company, but did he have to act the way he did: cold and impersonal?

He eyed the drawers with more than a bit of curiosity. Relena said something about a picture. Feeling the old rush from breaking-and-entering return to his veins, he slowly opened the first drawer and peeked inside.

He cautiously pulled out a simple 3x5 frame, made of wood, glass and cardboard. In the light, it looked normal, but he could see the wear and tear on the frame. Where hands have held it countless upon countless of times were the tell-tale marks of grime worked into the grain.

The picture inside flashed in his eyes, conjuring up the countless nights during the war. Only once or twice did something like the picture captured happen to him...

"Found what you're looking for?"

The barely-there voice snapped his thoughts to the present and the presence of his host as Heero stood at the doorway. He felt like the cat caught trying to eat the canary by the bulldog.

He looked into Heero's eyes, unable to decipher anything that he saw there. "When did you get this, Heero?"

"You're going to take the picture from me?" Heero's voice sounded strained.

"No, Heero..." He watched as Heero's whole body relaxed minutely.

Duo sat down on the bed and patted the part next to him, motioning to Heero to join him. Heero complied.

"You know, I could have sworn that I got all those pictures destroyed..." Duo chuckled. "Well, at least the one that made it out of the war was an interesting one, right Heero?"

Heero only nodded as he looked at the picture still in Duo's hands. "Duo... who..."

"Who's the guy in the picture with me?" Duo filled in. "Sa... I think his name was Glenn. He was my roommate for a time somewhere, but he had a bit of trouble when I met him. He asked to sleep in my bed, and I let him." Duo looked at the picture and tried to member Glenn's face. "He was a nice guy, but we didn't DO anything, if that's what you think..."

Heero nodded once more.

A long silence filled in the space between them.

"You know, Heero," Duo began, "I think I would have been more comfortable on the couch. This bed felt empty, I don't know..."

"I know." Heero laid down on the bed. "I usually sleep on the couch anyway. The bed felt too empty to me, too..."

Duo looked at the perfectly framed picture before setting it aside on the dresser. "Say, Heero, do you, um... mind if, um..."

Heero raised an eyebrow in question.

"Well, you know..." Duo began to blush as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Share the bed with me?"

There was no evidence of what transpired that night, only the testimonies of one Duo Maxwell and one Heero Yuy.

They claim that after a a long chat in the dark of Yuy's bedroom, they slept together for the first time that night.

This time there were no photographs recording the incident, but there was no need, Yuy said. After wishing for the dream for so long, he was satisfied with the knowledge that it actually came true.
