Boy, is boredom dangerous.

I've been trying to draw something, anything, that I can expand and work on. (I've gotten the wacky idea of making a wallpaper calender for next month. Just can't seem to draw anything for it. God, do I suck.)

I did get sort of close with this one. Yes, I like Gintama. Yes, I'm going to Silver Fourteen 2, thought that has nothing to do with this sketch (not really). And, as soon as I finish posting this, I'm going to clean up the sketch and work on darkening/cleaning the lines.

... Or ignore it and work on something else/eat a muffin/take a shower and go to bed. Whatever.

I'm really not feeling very confident, thanks. ^_^

Ooh! Sycronized swimming championships on TV!

After working on a four-panel strip for a couple hours, I ignored it for a while. The first thoughts that entered my mind when I came back to it later in the day were:

Look at how plain and lifeless they are! No one would want to read a comic with them looking as disinterested and boring as this!!! Oh, woe is me, a failure, a fool to believe I can draw characters with real emotions, and not dolls, not flat, uninteresting things with big boobies and unnaturally spiky hair!!!

The comic is a special for a serial I did last year, Tiffi and the Mystic Chicken. At some point, I'm pretending that they are talking about Cloudkins' 'boyfriend'. If I actually finish it, I'll write more.

Peace out! ^_^

So, I've been a very jumpy monkey.

This is a nearly finished drawing of Heero Yuy in Gothic Lolita-style drag. Why? Because someone had to do it.

Really, I did it because it was my birthday, and I seriously do find Heero Yuy in drag amusing. Somehow, I always draw him scowling whenever I put him in a dress, because I know that he wouldn't find the whole situation as amusing.

That thought didn't stop me however.

Hopefully, I'll finish up the background tomorrow, and color it sometime by the weekend.

... I like his hair. Those extensions look really nice on him. ^_^

Also, the postcard giveaway is still on! Why? Who cares why? They're pretty and they're free. http://babygray-dam.livejournal.com/9400.html Come on and get some!

... My, aren't I the shameless self-promoter? #^_^#

Gintama Wing Sketch

That's the only reason I can give as to why Heero and Duo are (mostly) dressed as Hijikata and Gintoki. Besides, if you think about it, it's kind of fitting. Particularly the Hijikata/Heero combo and the former's constant talk of seppuku....

(I'm grasping at straws. Shut up.)

The sketch is mostly finished (did I just talk out my ass just now?), and if I remember, I'll start inking and coloring tomorrow.

Sketch 12-27-06

There's a paranda song called 'Paranda de Sopon' that I've been enjoying lately. The story the song tells is a simple one: At two o'clock in the morning, the singers ate some great ckicken soup (the sopon), only to develop terrible stomach aches at dawn. The chicken was taken from the yard, killed, cooked up, and eaten by everyone at the party, and not a bone was left. The rooster, awaken by the noise, couldn't believe his eyes and went crazy, but by dawn he was a widower. The singers end be claiming the upset stomachs was a results of a curse the rooster cast on them, noting the fact that the rooster was laughing.

The lyrics (in Spanish, mind you), can be found here: http://www.prfrogui.com/home/PARRANDA%20SOPON.htm

Now... why am I posting this here? Well, on the way home, I thought I had a great idea for a story based on this song... something utterly Snarry. But, now that I sat down for the first time all day (pretty much), I somehow don't think it's as great an idea as I did just a half-hour ago. The hen would be Harry, but who would he be slaughtered and 'eaten' by? Death Eaters? Too much violent sexual context for me.

The wizarding world? While that is completely within canon (he's already on the way to the sacrificial altar for them), why would Snape want to curse the public because of it? The rooster is not a part of the party; he's an outsider. Snape, though on the fringes, can't be as Other as the rooster, and I can't see him cursing the world. The Death Eaters, sure, but that takes back the sexual violence route, and I just can't do that.

That said, I thought this dud of an idea here, because I sure as hell won't use it.

The doodle is from my journal. I was playing with a new pen.

Not really certain if I was feeling pensive or tired. I'm leaning towards tired.

The bad part about this sketch is that I accidentally painted on the same layer as the penciling, so I won't be able to clean this up to that I can post a nicer version of it in my dA gallery. That is, if I was being diligent... I probably could do it, but I am a lazy. lazy bitch, and who's going ot goad me into making a prettier version. You? (^_^;)

If you look in the corner, you can see where I almost doodled Snape. (Don't be surprise if I post some Snape/Harry fanart in the near future.)

... I actually liked the sketch too. Harry looked asleep, and I kept wanting ot add a book on his lap. Guess I'll try to rework it later... (^_^)/~

Here are some bad ideas that may never see the light of day, and if they have, good lord, is there no such thing as shame in the world?

Harry Potter vs. Scooby Doo? )

Harry Potter vs. SpongeBob?! )

.... Now that those are written down and about to be forgotten (ha!), just a note about the following link. I finished it two nights ago, and while I may have to go back to fix the scar and give it a decent background, it came out okay, right?

Till next time! ^_^

Harry in the Snow by ~babygray on deviantART

NaNoWriMo is just under a week away, and I'm actually almost excited about it this year. Last year, the story I wrote bored me before I even made it halfway through. Characters kept changing sexual preferences, all these twists demanded to be added into the plot, and the bad guy simply refused to show himself.

This year, thank God, I have a better idea as to what is going on in the story I even have a nefarious villian with underlings and everything. Mind you, I was rather inspired by Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore, so if, for some fucking bizarre reason, incest and some sort of Oedipus/Electra complex is added to the story, I would like to say it's not my fault. It's Mr. Murakami's and possibly the lack of sleep.

This post's picture is a half-finished doodle of Harry Potter in the snow. Years ago, I made jokes at the expense of Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy slash fan artists. So, isn't it ironic that I now spend quite a bit of my free time doodling Harry and Professor Snape in compromising situations? Ironic and a tad disturbing, if you ask me.
